About Us

Global Investment Watch is a blog sponsored by JMR Portfolio Intelligence, which provides non-financial risk assessments of public companies around the world. Their blog is devoted to discussing global investment issues from a progressive standpoint with an emphasis on labor, human rights and geopolitical risk issues.

John Richardson – Editor

The Editor of Global Investment Watch, John Richardson is the CEO and President of JMR Portfolio Intelligence, the parent of Global Investment Watch. John’s focus at GIW is in the areas of human rights and politics. His focus on human rights is driven largely by his belief that greater focus must be brought to human injustice in the world brought on by those in control of power.

A recipient of a law degree, John rejected the traditional path of a law practice, realizing that his sense of humor and his disdain for tedium would make him an outcast in his field. Instead, he chose to join the ranks of organized labor for the early years of his career and eventually migrated from the West Coast to Washington DC. He eventually transitioned into the investment banking field and then into corporate governance work, where he has focused his efforts for more than 15 years. He currently resides on Capitol Hill with his wife, his two dogs and two cats.

Erika Yost – Co-Editor

Erika Yost is a Social Research Analyst at JMR Portfolio Intelligence and a Communications Specialist with The Fazendin Portfolio, a group that represents African travel companies in North America. She has lived and worked in France and West Africa and currently enjoys life in Denver, a city where it takes some effort to connect with non-U.S. cultures, but it is possible and well worth it. Erika is a humanist, meaning she rejects transcendental justifications, as tempting as they are sometimes. She tries not to be too cynical although it runs in her family.

In contributing to Global Investment Watch, Erika is particularly interested in women’s issues and corporate greed, the latter being a bountiful topic indeed. Her favorite quote is: “Another world is not only possible, she’s on the way and, on a quiet day, if you listen very carefully you can hear her breathe.” Arundhati Roy, brilliant Indian writer and social activist
