In today’s Huffington Post, Marjorie Cohn notes, “Since Israel began its war on Gaza 11 days ago, more than 560 Palestinians — about a quarter of them civilians — have been killed. Some two thousand Gazans, including hundreds of children, have been wounded. Israel’s “Operation Cast Lead” marks an escalation of Israel’s two-year blockade of the Gaza Strip which has deprived 1.5 million Palestinians of necessary food, medicine, fuel and other necessities.”
I think Ms. Cohn’s points are well made in noting that Israel has waged a form of economic terrorism aimed at the Palestinian people prior to waging war. While Hamas cannot be excused for its actions aimed at Israel, the later’s response is unacceptable.
As troubling as Israel’s actions are, the Bush Administration’s lopsided response and the Congressional Democrats ineptitude in regard to this current conflict are appalling. See Global Investment Watch at http://globalinvestmentwatch.com/2009/01/04/israel-the-caged-animals-must-be-punished/
